The Miracle that is Melanie

Those of us in the pro-life movement will speak about every human life being a miracle of God. We say it so many times that it is easy for the meaning of the words to become lost on us or even worse to take for granted the unique gift that is every human life and what God intends for that person should he or she seek to do His will.

Our energy and focus on stopping the killing that goes on all around us and our efforts to educate our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens can be draining and often frustrating. The infighting, the failure to treat people with respect, the sometimes deliberate attacks on well meaning efforts, will drive people away and tempt them to give up the fight.

So when a crisis occurs that requires us to direct our attention toward that which is most important, it is amazing to see the hand of God at work.

Melanie Pritchard is a dynamic young woman whom I have had been privileged to work with for many years now. I watched how her passion for the right to life developed and how her enthusiasm for teaching young people to respect themselves, their lives and others infected her friends and students such that they became ambassadors for the pro-life message. I witnessed her love for Doug and how their beautiful relationship led to marriage and children. Watching her be mom was a kick. As I saw my own two daughters grow into examples of Christian women, so i saw Melanie become an example of what happens when we say yes to God.

So it was only too shocking when I received a call from Melanie's mother, Sherry, telling me of the crisis of events and that Melanie was near death after the trauma during labor and delivery.

Pray.

That was all we could do. Pass the word for everyone to pray. And so we did. And so we all did. And by the grace and mercy of God. our prayers were answered.

I saw Melanie this afternoon. She is awake, alert, making jokes, eating, sitting up and still in need of our prayers. Her heart is "tired" after all this trauma and needs to get stronger. Her surgery is still very painful. But her determination is inspiring. As the saying goes, she isn't out of the woods yet. So please pray for her and Doug and the family. Pray for her parents Jim and Sherry and for Sherry's parents who have serious health issues. Pray for the doctors and nurses who have been and are caring for her. Please give thanks to Almighty God for her life and those who were there to assist and treat her. And a special thanks to God for Melanie's brother Larry, who was able to advise and act in ways to get her the advanced medical care she needed.

But most important pray that throughout this nation we may once again value and cherish every human life as those of us who know Melanie cherish her. Think about those in your family and take a moment to reconcile any issues that are separating you from them. Forgive any grievances and ask forgiveness for any hurts you have caused along the way. Realize that God loves us through others and we in turn express the love of God when we love one another. In thanking God for His mercy in healing Melanie and bringing us all through this situation, let us use this moment to become better people; first in our homes, then in our schools, our churches, and at work. Let us recommit ourselves to defending innocent human life at all stages, at all times, in all situations. Let us be about the work that God has intended.

Obama Recess Appointment Favors "Rationing"

Barak Obama's recess appointment to become the director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the office that oversees government health care programs, has stirred criticism not only from Republican leaders but from Democrat Senators as well. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) on Wednesday blasted the Obama administration for sidestepping Congress, stating, "Senate confirmation of presidential appointees is an essential process prescribed by the Constitution that serves as a check on executive power and protects Montanans and all Americans by ensuring that crucial questions are asked of the nominee — and answered.,"

Calling the nominee an "expert on rationing," Republicans are denouncing the president's actions. Pro-life leaders also condemned the nomination when initially announced in May. In the May 27, 2010 Life News, it was reported that Wesley J. Smith, opposes Berwick. Berwick is an outspoken admirer of the British National Health Service and its rationing arm, the National Institute for Clinical Effectiveness (NICE). Smith has frequently condemned this approach to health care.

Jake Tapper of ABC NEWS reports of an interview last year with Biotechnology Healthcare, where Berwick said society makes decisions about rationing all the time, and that the "decision is not whether or not we will ration care -- the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open. And right now, we are doing it blindly."

Berwick has been quoted as saying that "the one thing the NHS is good at is saving money. After all, it is far cheaper to let the sick die than to provide care."

Pro-life advocates, including Sarah Palin, have condemned ObamaCare as being a tool to introduce rationing in to mainstream medical care management. While criticized roundly for speaking about "death panels," it would appear that Palin and other pro-life activists are right.

It would seem that the way this administration is going to deal with the social security and medicare problem is to ration care and eliminate the elderly and those dependent on receiving medical care for survival or longevity.

Only the outright repeal of ObamaCare will allow for protection of those medically dependent and disabled as well as the elderly. Find out for yourself if both of your Senators and your House Representative support the repeal of ObamaCare.

But for Wales?

With the passage of this bill by the House, there is no real reform. There is only more government interference and involvement in our lives.

I laugh to myself. For 35 years I have been accused of wanting MORE government interference in the private health care decision of women - all because I wanted to end abortion. now the house has passed a bill that does interfere with people's private health care decisions and the Left is happy.

It is all about power.

It is all about control.

They oppose any exercise of real freedom. They oppose the free exercise of our liberties.

And as for Stupak, he set back efforts to create an authentic pro-life voice within the Democrat party ten years. His cowardly "dive" will cost him and the pro-life Democrats trying to make a dent into the party. Maybe not today ... but eventually.

As someone who has tried to encourage pro-life democrats to support pro-life candidates in their own primaries, I will say that I am thoroughly disgusted. My friend John Shaddegg proved to be prophetic when he warned me that these guys (Stupak et al)would cave - and that was in November. So I publicly ask as did Diogenes in Greece, Is there an honest authentic pro-life democrat who will not sell out the cause for a few scraps of bread?

Is there someone who has the fortitude to stand up to the pressure?

Or can they all be bought?

I could only think of The scene in 'A Man for All Seasons' after Rich's perjury. More looks as the crest of the office and reminds Rich that it is not enough to gain the whole world and suffer the of one's soul. But for Wales?

concerning that "controversial" Super Bowl ad

For all the sports fans who appreciate the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat," yesterday's Super Bowl XLIV will go down as most memorable. Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints and to the people of New Orleans.

What was also memorable was the two weeks of flurry surrounding the "controversial" Focus on the Family ad involving Tim Tebow and his mom. Pro-abortion forces tried to pressure CBS in to dumping the ad. For two weeks the Tebows were subjected to slanderous assaults on their character while liberal pundits complained about this ad from the "anti-choice, homophobic, extreme right wing" conservative organization.

When the dust settled and the ad had been seen by millions, almost everyone who saw the ad realized how insanity has taken hold of the pro-abortion industry.

The Tebow ad was a simple humorous and very innocuous celebration of the love between a mother and her son - who happens to be a pretty decent fellow and a darn good quarterback. Wow - real controversial - a mother who loves her son and a son who is appreciative of his mother.

But never let it be said that the NOW cows and the NARAL wackos had any clue on decency. Nor let it be said that they even understand some of the values lived by the Tebows or any family that really believes in the sanctity of life. No, the best thing that happened was that the American people saw how empty and shallow are the extremists that promote abortion.

Now is the time to remind the American people that our greatness is found in our generosity toward life, in our desire to share the bounties of liberty and our willingness to sacrifice for those in need.

That openness is found in respecting the beauty of life is personified in the innocent little child. as a country, as a society, and as a culture we need to affirm life and reject those who would lead us down the sterile path to oblivion.

ARIZONA RIGHT TO LIFE MARCH AND RALLY A GREAT SUCCESS

Those of you who joined us for the Annual March and Rally for life were not disappointed yesterday. A beautiful day marked the occasion and a healthy crowd of thousands gathered at Steele Park in Phoenix to hear Senator Jon Kyl, Governor Jan Brewer, Congressmen, Franks and Shadegg and a number of other pro-life leaders speak about their conviction and their involvement with right to life. Once again we showcased the importance of our young people who are the next generation of leadership.

Check out the Arizona Pro-life rally website for pictures of the event.

ABORTION IS BLACK GENOCIDE

ABORTION IS BLACK GENOCIDE

ABORTION IS BLACK GENOCIDE

The headline is not original. For many years during the late 1960s and 70s, Black leaders would start their speeches on their view that abortion was being pushed as a means of eliminating the Africa-American community. Civil Rights leaders from Jesse Jackson to Dick Gregory to Stokely Carmichael would allude to the paucity of real concrete assistance in the ghettos, but the over abundance of family planning clinics focused on reducing the Black population. Then Jesse decided he wanted to be president, organizations financing the civil rights struggles told leaders to hush when the abortion issue came up and another cover up in American politics took place with nary a complaint.

During the years that have passed, many of us would raise the issue of black genocide only to find the audience uninterested in what was happening in “those” communities. Yet the statistics reveal that over 37% of the abortions in the United States are committed on African-American women.

Now a new documentary has arrived on the scene. MAAFA 21 is a serious fact intensive documentary that exposes for the first time on film the systematic effort by the racists in America to exterminate the Black population through abortion and birth control. Done in the style of Ken Burns, this documentary walks the viewer from the end of the Civil War to the present day. It weaves a compelling indictment of the racists in America who attempted to control, lessen or even eliminate African- Americans once they got their freedom.

Produced by Life Dynamics and directed by Mark Crutcher, every person who cares about the problems caused by abortion will want to see this film. Not only that, but you will also want to show any person who doubts the corrosive effects abortion has had on the culture.

Planned Parenthood is the primary focus of the documentary once the history is presented. Founded by Margaret Sanger an avowed racist and bigot, and originally known as the American Birth Control League, Sanger’s organization had strong ties to the Eugenics movement, which held that Blacks and other non-white races were inferior to the white man. Crutcher reveals the close ties the leaders of the American Eugenics Society had with the Thirds Reich prior to World War II. The film connects the dots and presents a strong indictment of the elitist mentality that controls the Democratic party today as well as many huge international business conglomerates. A film that will need to be viewed over and over again, I recommend MAAFA 21 to anyone who wants to help make a sea change in the struggle to end abortion in America.

Fortunately there are now many organizations standing up to the abortion industry within and among the Black Community. Leaders like Alveda King, niece of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., are leading the fight to expose the racist eugneic nature of Planned Parenthood.

In The End We Must All Answer For Our Deeds - Edward Kennedy - Dead at 77

In The End We Must All Answer For Our Deeds

Senator Edward Kennedy is dead. The liberal ‘lion’ of the U.S. Senate for more than 46 years passed away tonight from a brain tumor in Hyannis Post Massachusetts. He was 77. The news accounts will document Kennedy’s rise to power in the Senate following the assassination of his brothers, John and Robert, in the 1960s, his legacy as a stalwart crusader of liberal causes and the world will offer its sympathies for a man whose life seemed at times to be drawn from Shakespearean tragedies.
For my part, I offer a prayer of hope that God may have mercy on his soul for a life that failed to embrace the greatness that might have been.
Ted Kennedy carried the cross of being a Kennedy and living with the ghosts of three brothers who died in the service of their country. His father failed to provide him with the example of what a good man should do when called to serve a cause greater than himself, yet I am sure that each Kennedy son in his own way sought to live in a manner that would please that man whose shadow stretched across each of their lives. In that we can only hope that the influence for the good will survive.
His sister Eunice Shriver, always the pro-life spokesman could not get her brother to return to the pro-life home that his dear mother Rose nurtured. No, the siren call of political expediency and the viperous tongue of one Fr. Robert Drinan were sufficient for ted Kennedy to break the heart of his dear sister and mother. Yet such a knife to the heart was not to occur in the early days. As later as 1971 Senator Kennedy embraced an ethic of life. In a letter to a constituent, dated August 3, 1971 Kennedy wrote:
"While the deep concern of a woman bearing an unwanted child merits consideration and sympathy, it is my personal feeling that the legalization of abortion on demand is not in accordance with the value which our civilization places on human life. Wanted or unwanted, I believe that human life, even at its earliest stages, has certain rights which must be recognized -- the right to be born, the right to love, the right to grown old.
"I share the confidence of those who feel that America is working to care for its unwanted as well as wanted children, protecting particularly those who cannot protect themselves. I also share the opinions of those who do not accept abortion as a response to our society's problems -- an inadequate welfare system, unsatisfactory job training programs, and insufficient financial support for all its citizens.
"When history looks back to this era it should recognize this generation as one which cared about human beings enough to halt the practice of war, to provide a decent living for every family and to fulfill its responsibility to its children from the very moment of conception."

A more passionate and well reasoned response could not have been written by the most vigorous foe to abortion. Yet the character of the man would fail once again as the Democratic leadership in 1972 and later throughout the 1970s began to attack pro-life democrats and excise them from the party.
It is here that Kennedy’s failure to stands up for the truth was never more evident. Perhaps his failure to act was due to personal faults not known to the general public. Perhaps he sought to equivocate and to rid himself of such a mantle of moral responsibility. Perhaps private events marked a transformation. But somewhere in those years, he jettisoned the hero’s cloak and adapted to the relevancy of the political moment. He became the excuse for so many politicians to abandon a pro-life defense and enter the bowels of the pro-abortion labyrinth.
The scandal was not Kennedy’s alone. The failure of the Roman Catholic Church to boldly act upon his treachery reflected a weakness that would only be revealed in later years. The failure of the Irish-American community to denounce the betrayal of such deep seeded values also exposed feet of clay. This dance of convenience between the politics and the faith in Boston has done more to harm the Church and her reputation than all the scandals combined.
So for the next 36 years Edward Kennedy became the person thrown in the faces of Catholics who argued that being pro-life was essential to living the life of a practicing Catholic. After all, the Church did nothing to Ted Kennedy. So how essential to the faith is one’s position, they replied.
Meanwhile Kennedy became bolder and bolder in expressing his pro-abortion or pro-choice as some would say position. He ruthlessly attacked Robert Bork during his confirmation hearings and was probably responsible for Bork’s defeat. He voted against all pro-life legislation and opposed pro-life judges. His position on abortion was that of an abortion apologist.
I will not speak to the Chappaquiddick incident, the William Smith event or his long term problems with alcohol. Each of these nightmares would demand the prayers of anyone who cared about the weakness and failings of one’s fellow man.
No, it was the calculated move away from a position he knew to be right to embrace the darkness of death that spurs my prayers. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul?
So tonight I say a prayer for his soul. I pray God that he repented of the evil he has done in his life, that he sought the tender mercies of a loving God in the sacraments that He gave to us, and that those who survive will not revel in his errors but would learn the critical lessons from a life that offered much promise and sadly delivered none but shame.
